How has COVID-19 affected supply chains?
Everyone has heard it hundreds of times over the last several months – “out of stock.” The COVID-19 pandemic has interrupted supply chains in a way that is affecting many people and many industries.
How is COVID-19 affecting supply chains?
Because of the shutdowns throughout the pandemic, many mills, factories, and other businesses that are essential to supplying material to major industries were delayed in producing their goods. Many factories had to shut down in order to acquire PPE or put safety measures in place, and some of them were operating at a lower capacity than normal for an extended period of time.
Meanwhile, consumers were still in need of products, especially in the home improvement industry. Lockdowns inspired the desire to refresh office spaces, build new ones, and many people even looked for or built new houses to accommodate their newfound need to be able to work from home.
How is it affecting the fence industry?
The fence industry has not been spared from the pandemic-induced shortages. The lumber industry itself famously exploded with shortages and inflated prices during the pandemic, which in turn affected the fence industry and many related industries.
Being home all the time, many people decided to invest in their own space. Redecorate the office, improve the backyard; make home an oasis since it’s where we’re spending all of our time. Dealing with home improvement projects became a highlight of COVID lockdowns for many. Outdoor projects like fencing were especially appealing since they allowed for a safe distance between contractor and homeowner.
How can I do my projects despite the shortages?
Here at The Fence Authority, we have gone to great lengths and taken great care to ensure that we have the most popular fences in-stock and available for our customers. We always do our best to have all the necessary materials to build the most popular wood, vinyl and aluminum fences, even in non-COVID times. But it has become even more important for us over the last year and a half to be able to supply our customers with the products they’re looking for, when they want them.
